Wabisabigama

Wabisabigama is an anagama style community wood fire pottery kiln located at Clayworks Pottery in Wacousta, Michigan. Follow this link (http://www.lansingcitypulse.com/lansing/article-5834-baptism-of-fire.html) to view a City Pulse article about the first firing of Wabisabigama.

A Woodfiring Workshop was held October 18-21, 2012 led by guest potters Brent Heerspink and Julie Porter. One-day or four-day options were available.

The Kiln Opening will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2012, beginning with the unbricking of the kiln at noon.

History of Wabisabigama

Wabisabigama was built through the cooperative efforts of Clayworks members and friends of Clayworks from the community.  Wabisabigama was fired for the first time in May of 2011.  We were overwhelmed by the great results achieved during this inaugural firing!
Wabisabigama was fired again in Fall of 2011, January of 2012 and Spring of 2012.

Our fifth firing took take place during a Wood Firing Workshop in October of 2012. Guest Potters Brent Heerspink and Julie Porter guided this firing while they shared their extensive knowledge of the wood firing process.
See the Fall 2012 Workshop page for more information and photos.
